Harmony is a particularly optimistic word and can be found in many scenarios.  When there is harmony, there is a measure of peace, although it often refers to music in the best sense as well as relationships and even the combination of colours in an artist's pallete or on the canvas.  It also implies a mutually beneficial co-existence of two or more parts together which compliment each other.

When talking about music there are numerous examples where harmony can be found.  Chord pregressions, melodies, intervals ( such as minor or major third, perfect fourth or fifth, and octaves ).  Moreover some of the best examples of harmony actually combine the relationships and musical instruments that you might find in an orchestra, and when the whole orchestra performs a composition together the result is an overall harmony that may consist of fourteen different instrument sections with twenty or more individual musicians playing at any time.

Additionally harmony can occur between just two entities or on a macro level such as 'the order and harmony of the Universe'.  Etymologically speaking the word harmony is derived from the Latin, 'harmonia' meaning concord or melody.  Harmony can also be observed in nature, for example perhaps you've been lucky enough to witness a cat and dog making friends, or baboons grooming each other.

It is clear then that the harmonious state is a most agreeable state, and here we list a small collection of similarly related words.

agreement, accord, accordance, concordance, unanimity, cooperation, unity, unison, oneness, amicability, good will, amity, good will, affinity, rapport, sympathy, like-mindedness, friendship, fellowship, comradeship, peace, peacefulness

compatibility, congruity, consonance, concord, coordination, blending, balance, symmetry, suitability

tune, congruity, tunefulness, melodiousness, mellifluousness, euphony, euphoniousness

And if we dig deeper still we find many other examples of harmony iin nature, like the sound of a honey bee's buzzing wings which has generally been found to resonate at three semitones below middle C, or whale songs deep below the ocean surface, the sound of the remarkable tenacity of these creatures in the sometimes bleak surroundings which can be heard by other whales that could be miles away, or the various chirps and calls of various bird species that communicate with each other to denote danger, or food, or for mating purposes.  Sometimes even without much sound, you might see a flock of birds of the same colour doing an aerial display together, which implies that there are lots of necessary relationships and much communication for them to organise all those formation flights.
